Before you write. Settings, then Get help, opens a mail composer with your build number already in it. Sending from there saves a round trip, because the first question would otherwise be which version you are on.
The things people ask
How do I get a copy of my library?
Settings, then Back up your library. It writes a complete file of everything you have saved, and it is yours to keep anywhere you like. It is free, it is always available, and it is worth doing before anything you cannot undo.
How do I delete my account?
Settings, then Delete account. It happens immediately and takes your library, your reviews, your profile and anything you uploaded with it. Back up first if you want a copy, because there is nothing to restore from afterwards.
There is a separate Delete your library row for the case where you want the games gone but the account kept.
How do I bring a backup back?
Settings, then Restore from a backup, and pick the file you saved. Restore refuses rather than guesses: if a file is from a newer version or is damaged, it stops and says so instead of loading half of it over your library.
My Steam import found nothing.
Steam only hands over a library that is public. Open your Steam privacy settings, set Game details to Public, and run Steam under Settings again. A private profile looks exactly like an empty one from the outside, which is why the app cannot tell you which it was.
A game is missing, or matched to the wrong thing.
Search for it by name and save it from there, which overrides whatever a match guessed. If it is not in the catalog at all, add it by hand. If a game seems wrong for everybody rather than just for you, tell us and it can be looked at.
How do I manage or cancel Backlit Plus?
Subscriptions are handled by the App Store, not by Backlit. Settings, then Your plan, has a Manage in the App Store row that opens the right screen; you can also go to the App Store, tap your account picture, and choose Subscriptions. Cancelling there stops the renewal and you keep Plus until the period you paid for runs out.
If you paid and the app has not noticed, Restore purchases on the same screen asks Apple again.
Where did my games go on a new phone?
Sign in with the same account and the library comes back. Everything is stored against your account, not against a device.
Does Backlit work without a signal?
Yes. Every screen reads from a full copy held on the device, and anything you change while offline is sent the next time there is a connection.
Reporting something
Anything public in Backlit has a Report control on it. A report goes straight to a person, not to a queue nobody reads, and it is looked at within a day.
